Online DJ Course: Learn to DJ at Your Own Pace

The Music Workflow Academy DJ Course is a complete online DJ course with 155 on demand video lessons. It takes you from setting up your controller for the first time to planning sets and playing out with confidence. You learn at your own pace, on any device, from anywhere in the UK or the world.

Every lesson is taught by Omar Meho, founder of Music Workflow Academy and an international resident DJ in Ibiza, Dubai, the French Alps and the US. The course costs £197 as one payment, or you can get the DJ Course and the Ableton Course together for £297.

What You Will Learn on the DJ Course

The course is built in the order Omar teaches his 1 to 1 students, so each skill sits on top of the last one.

  • Setting up: connecting your controller, headphones and speakers, and organising your music library so you can find the right track fast.
  • Beatmatching: matching tempo by ear and with the sync button, and knowing when to use each.
  • Phrasing: counting bars and phrases so your mixes land where the music changes, not halfway through a vocal.
  • EQ and gain: blending two tracks cleanly without the low end turning to mud.
  • Transitions: blends, cuts, echo outs, loops and effects, and when each one suits the moment.
  • Mixing in key: using the Camelot wheel to choose tracks that sound good together.
  • Building sets: reading a crowd, planning energy and putting together a set you are proud of.
  • Playing out: recording mixes, getting feedback and taking the step from bedroom to booth.

Who the DJ Course Is For

The DJ Course is for complete beginners who have never touched a controller, and for bedroom DJs who can mix but want to sound tighter and more confident. You do not need expensive equipment: a beginner DJ controller and a pair of headphones are enough to start.

Because the lessons are on demand, the course fits around school, work and family. Watch a lesson, practise it, then come back to it as many times as you need. If you would rather learn in person, Omar also teaches 1 to 1 DJ lessons in Chester and online.

Why Learn to DJ With Music Workflow Academy

Music Workflow Academy was founded in 2021 in Saltney, Chester, and was named Best DJ and Music Production School 2026. Omar was named in Forbes 30 Under 30 Europe (Entertainment) in 2022, has had plays on BBC Radio 1, and has been featured in The Times, Metro, the Daily Mail, Times Radio and Absolute Radio.

Our teaching is CPD accredited, we have 115+ five-star reviews in a row, and Omar helped shape a DJ GCSE curriculum at The Grange school in Hereford, where his student achieved an A*. Schools can find out more at MWA for Schools.

Want to make your own tracks to play in your sets? The Ableton Course teaches music production in Ableton Live, and you can get both courses for £297.

DJ Course FAQs

Do I need DJ equipment before I start?

A beginner DJ controller and headphones are enough. The first lessons show you how to set them up, so you can buy what you need without overspending.

How long does the DJ Course take?

It depends on how much you practise. There are 155 lessons and you can take them at your own pace, so some students finish in a few weeks and others spread it over months.

Can I watch the lessons on my phone?

Yes. The course is hosted on Thinkific, so you can watch on a laptop, tablet or phone, wherever you are.

Is the DJ Course suitable for complete beginners?

Yes. It starts from the very beginning and builds up step by step, so you do not need any experience.
